Kimberly A. Coleman

Kimberly Coleman is an accomplished attorney with wide and varied experience in bankruptcy matters, including commercial and consumer bankruptcy proceedings.  She focuses her practice on representing debtors in consumer bankruptcy proceedings and debtor’s rights cases.  She has more than 18 years of bankruptcy experience, 5 prior to and during law school as a paralegal and 13 as a licensed attorney.

Prior to joining HalprinLaw, Kimberly Coleman worked as a consumer bankruptcy attorney in both the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the Middle District of Pennsylvania.  In Harrisburg, PA, she worked with John Neblett, a certified consumer bankruptcy attorney and now a Chapter 7 trustee in the Middle District.

From 2002 through 2007, Kimberly Coleman was an attorney with the law firm of Leech Tishman Fuscaldo & Lampl, LLC in Pittsburgh, PA where she worked on Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings by providing advice and counsel to businesses, trade creditors, secured creditors, and creditors’ committees.  She represented creditors’ committees in Chapter 11 proceedings including Pittsburgh Corning Corporation, Buffalo Molded Plastics, Inc., The Carbide/Graphite Group, Inc., and National Forge Company.  She also represented the creditors’ committee for The Carbide/Graphite Group, Inc. in pursuing more than 350 avoidance actions resulting in collections of more than $3 million.

Prior to working in Pittsburgh, Kimberly Coleman represented consumers and small businesses in bankruptcy proceedings in the Southern and Northern Districts of Ohio and the Eastern District of Kentucky.

Kimberly Coleman received her Juris Doctor at Salmon P. Chase College of Law in Northern Kentucky in 1996.  During the Summer of 1995, she worked as a law clerk for the law firm of Estudio Llona Y Bustamante Abogados while living in Lima, Peru focusing on international business transactions.

Kimberly Coleman lives with her husband Hutson Kovanda, her 3 year old daughter Lucy, and her 7 year old French bulldog Boris.  When she is not representing consumers, she enjoys reading, watching Dora with her daughter, travel, archeology, wine tasting, and working out.
